Apple iBookstore now open in Australia

Apple has opened a new iBookstore in Australia, exposing a new market to would-be authors and self-publishers. The Australian iBookstore had only out of copyright books to offer until today, when thousands of new titles became available to iPad, iPhone and IPod users down under. Read More

NextBook coming soon; Borders stakes claim

Nextbook is set to introduce a line of sleek, lightweight Android tablets to the US market, and Borders Books will have an eReader built into the device. Barnes and Noble Nook for developers

This could be interesting. Salon pointed out that the new Nook is really a tablet computer running a super locked-down form of Android.
